AutoCAD Mac 2014 Problem with layer stuck in on screen position
Hello, I am having a strange problem with AutoCAD 2014 for Mac whereby the current layer I am working on has become unselectable and seems to have frozen in place with regards to the screens perspective. This is a little hard to describe but essentially wherever I pan or zoom to, whatever I could see of that layer stays in the same place on the screen. This happened while I was editing a text box on that layer and I have no idea how to get out of it. I can choose a different current layer and I can change the formatting of the problematic layer however I cannot move it or change that it is stuck. I have tried updating to the most current patch and tried closing the program and restarting. Unfortunately this version is now the only saved copy I have so I can't restore to an older version. Has anybody seen this kind of thing before? Please help if you can, I need to get this piece of work out by tonight!!

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!
Hi,
Do you have this problem only in one of your drawings? If yes, can you attach it here for investigation?

Also it might be easier if you also create a screencast of the issue as well.
You can download screencast here:

Apologies for the radio silence, I ripped up my drawing and started again to get my last piece of work out. Again I have been struck by this seemingly nonsensical issue so I have attached the .dwg file (different from the first) to see if anybody can pinpoint my issue. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,
That is because annotation objects on Layer "Electrical" are in the Paper space and other objects (plans) are in the Model space, which you can observe through viewport created in Paper space (Layout).
If you activate Model space (double-click inside viewport in Layout) you can edit Model space objects, but you cannot edit Paper space objects and vice versa.
About zoomu=ing: you can synchronize zooming between model space viewport and paper space when you are "inside" viewport by locking viewport.
Please read more about paper and model space here:

Brilliant, it seems as though I am approaching a solution. I now understand the difference between model and paper spaces, however I am still unable to select or change the floating annotations. Also, I am still confused as why this keeps spontaneously happening to my drawings and how I can stop/fix it. Thanks in advance, Ryan

Hi Ryan,
In order to change space you can use MS (to change to Model space inside viewport) and PS (to change to Paper space) commands.
Or you can double click inside viewport to go to Model and double click outside model space viewport to change to layout.
In 2016 version there is also the special button on Status bar which can toggle Model / Paper.
