If I have a layout with multiple viewports, I cannot consistently freeze a layer in one viewport and not the others. It may work one time, but upon switching back and forth from model space to paper space, the layers don't stay frozen. I am trying this with dimension layers.

Hi,
Have you tried to use LAYFRZ command?
Activate viewport, click on Freeze Layer button on the Layers palette, than verify settings, they should be set to Vpfreeze:
Command: _LAYFRZ Current settings: Viewports=Off, Block nesting level=None Select an object on the layer to be frozen or [Settings/Undo]Settings Enter setting type for [Viewports/Block selection]Viewports In paper space viewport use [Freeze/Vpfreeze] <Freeze>: Vpfreeze Select an object on the layer to be frozen or [Settings/Undo] <- select object on the Layer you want to freeze here Layer "XXXXX" has been frozen in this viewport. Select an object on the layer to be frozen or [Settings/Undo] Command:

I usually use the buttons in the layer manager to control the options. I
will try the LAYFRZ command to see if I have different results.
Thank you.
