I am just fishing for ideas at this point. Since this is not a supported configuration there is basically nothing in my resources that detail any kind of fix for the problem.

 

I suspect that since AutoCAD is designed for Windows networks that it prefers SMB3 protocol for networks rather than AFP.

 

I know that you can force the client computer to use SMB and that might be a good first step in trying to find a workaround.

 

I have also been reading that a Windows File System is preferred over the AFS. Can you add a windows partition to your server drive and see if putting some files there will let them be accessible by Publish or Sheetsets?
