I usually do most of this work right in my Titleblock which gets xref'd into my set. Like a block (but easier) if I make a change it shows up on all my layouts. Only sheet specific items such as page number and drawing title are not included in the Xref. I typically make these into fields to capture the data (such as from drawing properties).
