AutoCAD 2016 for Mac won't open

Hi,

I've now spent a several hours trying to get Autocad 2016 for Mac to start. The icon appears in the sidebar, it bounces around for a bit, then stops. Nothing happens.

Here is my system

Macbook Air 5,1

8G memory

OS 10.11.4

I've deleted the flexnet files, tried reinstalling.

I've applied update 1, both before and after trying to launch the application.

Help would be very appreciated.

HI jo.major and welcome to the forums!

I am sorry you are having problems with your install. When you deleted the FLexnet, did you do it in this fashion?

I installed a stand-alone version on my Mac and don't see Flexnet files installed. Are you running this configuration?

Hi jo,

Have you tried to create new account on your Mac, login to it and launch AutoCAD?

Hi,

Not entirely clear that I understand here. I’ve got an autodesk account, and as I’ve been having trouble, I have been signed into it while downloading and trying to launch auto cad.

Signed in this morning, no problem. But that didn’t aid the launching problem.

I meant to create new User on your Mac via Users & Groups pane of Mac OS X System Preferences, but not on Autodesk site.

Creating a new user account on my mac does allow me to finally launch Autocad, and it appears to work fine.

It is, however, pretty frustrating to have to sign out of my primary account, and then migrate over to my second account simply to use one program.

Would be appreciated if that could be fixed.

At present I still have to log out, then log into the new user, in able to use Autocad. Fairly clunky.

HI @Anonymous,

At least we are making some progress here!

I don't have my Mac today but I will try to outline some steps for you tomorrow. In the mean time, please review this AKN Article to see if it helps you copy the proper files from the new working profile to your previous profile.

Hi,

I think, if you are able to start AutoCAD for Mac with second OS X user. You may meet a issue of AutoCAD Mac second install.

I'd like to suggest you try follow steps:

1. Log back to your major account of osx.

2. hold left SHIFT key and click the AutoCAD Mac icon on the dock bar.

AutoCAD will start and reset all you current user settings (Not affect your another OS X user).

Please let us know whether this could help you start the AutoCAD Mac with your primar account.

Thanks

Jian An

I'm having trouble also, I have a MAC OS X, it says my Graphics card isn't big enough.  I've never had this problem before.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Have you tried to reset (or reinstall with removing preferences) AutoCAD?
