Hi, 

Thanks for taking a look and replying.  I think I'm ok now!  I think what was happening was that I was adding dimensions in model space while on the layout page.. I thought if you were on the layout page that meant you were in paper space.    

Now that I have been makimg sure that all dimensions are applied in paper space the issue seems to have magically ceased
