AUTOCAD LT 2015 USES 100%CPU!!!???
I´ve recently bought a new macbook pro retina 15" mid 2015 2,5ghz i7 quad core with 16GB RAM and 512GB drive with AMD GPU and Autocad for mac LT 2015 revs up the fans constantly, and in iStat Menus autocad shows up using 100% plus of the CPU with average temperatures of the computer reaching 85ºC constantly. Autocad LT 2015 is a desktop subscription.
My mid 2014 15" rmbp with 2,8ghz i7 with 750m GPU NVIDIA runs cooler without the fans spinning up so much at an average temperature of 72ºC, and runs a perpetual license of autocad for mac 2015 LT perpetual license.
Both macbooks are connected to external Samsung 27" display 1980x1080 via hdmi port.
Any idea why the recent macbook pro with AMD heats up so much and shows 100%+ CPU usage? Both laptops work on the same project with the same files .
Thank you

I'm not sure, but this could be anything...
Have you tried to restart Macbook Pro? Reset AutoCAD?
What do you see in System.log in Console.app?
Are there anything related to AutoCAD?

You should look for records relating to AutoCAD LT 2015:
or here:
Try to use only AutoCAD LT when you will be looking in Console application. Any records that will repeat many times could show an activity which caused CPU overloading.

These are the two screen shots of the Console.app with All Messages selected...
Today i´ve tried the external monitor plugged via mini displayport to vga adapter, but samething happened with autocad 2015 LT showing 100% Cpu usages with all 4 cores reaching temperatures of 80ºC constantly . I only see this kind of behaviour when rendering in ARTLANTIS.

Found out today that the AMD R9 370Mx Gpu is not supported in Autocad LT 2015 for mac. The imac 5K AMD 295X is also not supported but i have no problem with that computer. Odd enough the AMD Firepro D300/500 are supported so it should not be an issue of Cuda (Nvidia) vs Open Cl (AMD)...just me guessing...http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534&results=1&stype=graphic&produ...

Olá,
Again CPU continuosly at 100‰ usage even if i´m just staring at the monitor...on Console.app apears a crash due to excessive heat
My guess is that autocad 2015 LT for mac has an issue with the AMD 370M dGpu
This kind of behaviour doesn´t apear on my other 15" rmbp with Nvidia dGpu.
I hope this version or the next shows proper support for the AMD dGpus

At this point, do you have it narrowed down to the Artlantis application? Can you get it to heat up when rendering in Artlantis with AutoCAD LT closed?

What I meant by Artlantis using 100% CPU on all 4 cores is that it is the only application that sustains 100% usage of CPU core for long periods of time. It happens throughout the rendering process. When working in preview window in Artlantis, CPU usage is like most programs showing a increase when regenerating the preview window and then returning to low percentage use. Obviously programs like Artlantis, rendering ones, use a lot more resources CPU and dGPU out of the rMBP and get the fans working. But so far on all other 3 15" rMBP with dGPU ( 2012/2013/2014) and iMacs (2013/2014 5K that I have AutoCAD LT 2014/15 perpetual license uses 8% to 30% (30% when regenerating viewports or model space) for the duration of the task and then idle if no command is active and I'm staring at the screen. In this new rMBP 15" with AMD 370M after 1h30m of working in AutoCAD 2015 LT monthly subscription I get 90 % tp 100% CPU usage constantly until I quit AutoCAD, and most of the times I have to force quit the app. I could be staring at the screen and it is still showing 100% CPU usage and the whole system shows 85ºC to 97ºC and fans constantly blowing.
I've tried safe boot + SMC and Pram reset and the problem persists.
I've tried using the laptop display only with dGPU AMD 370M and the problem persists.
I've tried connecting external display via mini display port to VGA to rule out HDMI trouble and the problem persists.
I'm going to use the Intel Iris Pro today with AutoCAD (I think it's the first rMBP 15" that I have the lets GFXstatusCard use the integrated Intel with the app all other switch to dGPU), and laptop display and see if the problem persists.
If it doesn't work I'm going to reinstall the AutoCAD 2015 LT and see if the problem persists.
