AUTOCAD 2013 crash on Yosemite even after SP update
Hi I'm using Autocad 2013 for mac at work and I've been experiencing crashes. My company had bought a new mac and it came with the Yosemite OS which seems to be non-compatible for Acad 2013. I've installed the service pack and still face crashes. What can I do? Also I've tried to uninstall 2013 but am faced with a problem where the uninstaller starts and hangs when it gets to the uninstalling process.

Hi,
How did you install AutoCAD 2013 in Yosemite? Which installer did you use?
If you used the current installer avaliable now in downloads section of Autodesk Support site:
http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-for-mac/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-2013-...
than it already contains all SP integrated and you don't need to install SP manually.
As about "hang" when you are trying to run uninstaller, than - have you tried to reboot your Mac and run uninstaller again?

Hi Maxim,
Thank you for your suggestions.
I used the original install disc that was given when we purchased the license. Yes, I've tried rebooting my mac and still I cannot uninstall.
Acad 2013 still crashing while I work. The cad window just disappears leaving only an option to quit acad through the force quit menu this happens randomly.

It is really strange, because AFAIK you cannot install AutoCAD 2013 using original installation, because the old installer doesn't work on Yosemite.
Some users reported here that were able to ununstall AutoCAD 2013 on Yousemite after they downloaded and installed trial version of AutoCAD 2015 for Mac. You can try this solution, maybe it helps you too.
If you removing will be successful, than you can download new installer from the link I provided in my previous post and install AC 2013. Than you can remove AC 2015.

This sounds very similar to the problem that I am having with AutoCAD 2013 LT on Yosemite. Drawings just instantaneously disappear from the screen, AutoCAD doesn't 'crash' exactly, drop-down menus appear but are useless. The only way out is to force quit. When restarting the option to recover drawings appears but recovered drawings are very old and missing most (all?) of the changes since last save.

I have exactly the same problem. It occurs when I draw a construction line and edit the line arount it for instance. WEIRD.
Do you have any solotion?

Hi,
Could you provide exact steps to reproduce the crash (if it is reproducible on your system)?

I am having the same problem - the drawing just suddenly disappears and I have to force quit Autocad to get any response. When re-opening the file, all edits since my last save are lost.
Almost any action can provoke it - selecting a line or hatch pattern, stretching, deleting, etc. Crashes occur frequently sometimes (after only a minute or two), at long intervals at other times (well over an hour). I can't see any pattern suggesting why this variation occurs.
I have tried uninstalling Autocad (which required downloading and installing trial 2015 version first, then uninstalling that), then downloading the latest version of 2013 and reinstalling it, with no improvement.

What kind of drawings you edit?
Were they created on the Mac or come from Windows?
Do you have troubles with all your files? Even just created?

Hi Maxim
Many of my drawings are based on site surveys etc. sourced from others, and are often composites from several sources. I am a landscape architect and projects always involve modification of sites, not building new ones scratch, so the drawing process mirrors that principle.
Most of the source drawings have probably been prepared in Windows systems (I assume). In general I copy info from those files into new drawing files created from templates on my Mac, rather than simply copying the original file and editing/adding to that.
(BTW, I have found that it is necessary to reset SCALELISTEDIT to clear out multiple scale settings that are brought into files this way, and which can significantly increase file sizes.)
The crashing is only obvious on larger files that have involved more cutting and pasting from other sources, rather than small new files - but I can't tell whether that is because the new small ones are actually more stable, or because I spend almost all of my drawing time on more time on the larger, more complex files.
The problem only began to occur after upgrading to OS X (and began almost immediately after upgrading). Autocad was always very stable on my Mac before that.

I'm not absolutely sure, but this may be a problem of som incomparabilities with Yosemite, which are still there even with the latest update.
BTW, did you leave AutoCAD preferences during removing AutoCAD 2013 at a time when you reinstall it? If no, than have you tried to reset AutoCAD via application tab of AutoCAD preferences dialog?

Yes, I kept my preferences when removing and updating AutoCAD. No, I haven't tried resetting via the application tab.
Will try that and see if it makes any difference.
Thanks
