Hello,
I recently downloaded the 2015 Cad LT onto my Mac and I wanted to install/add some .pat hatch files that I had on my 2013LT. I've tried opening HATCH and then clicking on the add hatch option. This opens the finder and I click on the pattern I want to add but I get the spinning wheel that goes until I have to shut down. The one pattern I did manage to add to the library shows as a white square with a red line through it and it doesn't work. Anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks,
Nicole

Hi,
When you add custom hatch pattern to AutoCAD with "Add pattern" from Hatch library, AutoCAD adds symbolic link (a kind of shortcut on PC) to the .PAT file you want to add to the "/Users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/roaming/AutoCAD LT 2015 Standalone/R20.0/enu/Support/" folder.
So in order the hatch pattern be available you should not move it from the location from you added it.
The better solution is to add custom hatch patterns in another way:
- create special folder for your custom hatch patterns somewhere inside your Home folder, put them all ti this folder,
- add this folder to "Support files search path" in Application tab of AutoCAD preferences,
- restart AutoCAD. Now if you start HATCH command, open Hatch library and select "Custom" list - all hatch patterns should be ready for use.
This applies to hatch single hatch patterns definitions - one .PAT file = one hatch pattern.
If you have trouble with some specific .PAT files, you can attach one of them here - I'll look at it.

Hi Maxim,
Thanks for the instructions. I've created the folder and linked per your instructions, but now when I open Hatch it freezes the program until I restart. It was doing this yesterday before I tried to add the new hatches as well.
Thanks,
Nicole

Hi Maxim,
I think I tried to load too many hatches and now it takes forever to load. Is there a way to detete the hatches i've added and start fresh with just the ones I know I want? I made the mistake of deleting ones from the folder I added so I also get a notice that some files are missing. So I'd like to solve that as well if possible.
Thanks,
Nicole

If you added hatch patterns from Hatch Library palette (using "add hatch"), than you need to cleanup all symbolic links to the hatch patterns from the "Users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/roaming/AutoCAD LT 2015 Standalone/R20.0/enu/Support/" folder.
The icons of the Symbolic links looks like ordinary files, but have small arrow at the bottom.

Hi Maxim
I am having a similar problem adding hatch patterns. I tried the method listed above, by adding the folder with the hatch patterns from preferences. But I think my hatch pattern file has many hatch patterns within the .pat file. How do I add these and not have the autocad Lt crash? I did it with no problem on my old windows laptop but now using a new macbook pro with Autocad Lt 2014. Also my desktop version is Autocad Lt 2013 and I am having the same issue.
I have attached the two hatch pattern files i am trying to add as well as a picture of what is currently in my support folder (new hatches not there because they cause Autocad to run very slow, even just open)
Thank you!
Mindy

I can confirm that customized versions of PAT files you attached hangs AutoCAD for Mac when you start HATCH command. Actually it doesn't really hang, but loads hatch definitions from PAT file, but this lasts forever in AutoCAD for Mac, while in PC version of AutoCAD custom hatch patterns loads instantly.
Custom hatches in the PAT files you provided are really very complex.
I think we can consider this as a bug in AutoCAD for Mac - it loads complex hatch patterns very slowly, so there is no workaround at this time. Unless you will find similar patterns, but not so complex in its definitions.
