Mysterious Gouges on Part After Surface Milling
After running the .093" bullnose tool as a Z-Level finishing op, I got these gouges on the part and I can't figure out why they happened. This didn't show up on the 3D Simulation/Part Compare. The only things I've done differently when programming this part are reducing my Retracts to 0.1 and checking the "Approximate linear moves with arcs and lines" Output Option. And the gouges only happened after running the .093 tool, not the .125 or .031 tools (that I am also finishing with).
Gouges on Part Surfaces
If I can't figure out why this happened, I was gonna try reprogramming the part from scratch with strategies other than Z-Level Finish. What would be the ideal strategies to use? I have to stick some of my finishing tools pretty far to reach those smaller radii, so cycle times don't matter. I just don't want any tools to break.

It does indeed, but I'd think it would be on the other corners as well? Unless he stopped it after those two gouges I suppose.

Nope, never found a good explanation for the gouges. It wasn't the tool holder; all the finishing tools were sticking out pretty far because of the deep cavities on the side I had to reach down into with those tools. I would expect gouging caused by the tool holder to first show up on the top face of the part, and closer to where the deep cavities are. The only thing I really did differently in this program that I don't usually do is reduce Relative Retract Clearance from 0.5" to 0.1" - Since then I haven't changed this setting from the default and have not seen these types of gouges.
