stl
Hi,
Am using an STL as stock, there is a lip around the top that needs to be removed, if i program a boss feature to rough away the excess then it want to do it in one pass and not use step-overs.
I think its probably caused because the program see's the bottom of the cutter is in fresh air?
Does anybody know a way around this?
Thanks

I'm going to suggest a few things that may help since I cant really figure out whats gong on by those pictures. One thing you can try is telling it how much stock there is to cut in the milling tab. By putting a value in the total stock field lets say .375 this will help the software know how much stock there is to remove. Also go in your rough stepover tab for that toolpath and give it a smaller value than its default value. For example .190. This will shorten its step over and may help you with this problem.
Another thing you can try is using a stock curve...project your geometry from your stock model and chain it into a curve then go to the stock curve button and select that curve as the boundary for your part. I hope this helped!

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, after posting question I did find that if I used a stock curve for the feature then it would cut the stock how I wanted.
Putting a value in the stock tab didnt make any difference and my stepovers are 0.8mm.
Thanks

Hi,
Have tried to use stock solid in the boss feature and get same result
Have been trying to upload file but it is to big, how do you change the size of the stl as the file size is huge and does slow down my computer when using.
Thanks
