5-ax z-level finishing, help needed

I need some help for the attached test part. The problem is I can´ t figure out why two surfaces are not machined at all.

I've tried different strategies but z-level finish is the only one that can handle undercuts.

Any help would be great, thanks!

First, Z level isn't the only strategy that can handle undercuts.  It may be the only strategy that has that checkbox.

Unfortunately, Z level does not machine shallow surfaces because it slices the model in Z increments.  Great for steep regions.  You can turn on Optimize for that issue, but not with undercuts.

I suggest you use Flowline.  You do need to construct a surface for FeatureCAM to work from.  This surface is a reference surface.....not a machinable surface.

Take a look at the attached modified FM file.  If you need more guidance on how I achieved these results, let me know.

Thank you very much for your help.

The result is okay so far.

I have to say I´ve tried flowline before posting this topic here but I got a different result.

Lots of unnecessary tool paths and something like that.

So after looking into your strategy I saw you´ve selected all the surfaces of the solid.

I´ve selected only the surfaces I wanted to finish. This thing makes it all different from yours.

Do you select all the surfaces for flowline in general? This info could be very useful haha.

Greetings

Selecting all the solid faces, in this case, won't cause any issues.  It's situational I guess.  I usually select the entire model if I can, then perhaps limit my toolpath with a boundary (if 3 axes).

In this case, the created surface will limit the location of the toolpath.

I figure I'd rather select way too much than miss surfaces.  Don't want model gouges.
