COVID-19 - Working from Home
Hey folks! I was curious as to how everyone was being affected by the current situation with COVID-19. How many of you are programming working from home now? What new challenges are you seeing? How many of you are still in the shop? Where are you located? How is everyone doing in terms of work coming in?
This is definitely a really unique and challenging situation we have all found ourselves in. If anyone is trying to get FC up-and-running in their home and has questions on anything from licensing, to tool cribs, to general programming, let me know! I'm here to help!
If you are stuck at home and can't be spending as much time in FC or in the shop as we would all like, I might encourage you to take this time to give Fusion a look. I won't lie to you, I'm a FeatureCAM guy through and through, but I would be lying to you if I said that I didn't think Fusion is really awesome in a whole lot of ways. As FeatureCAM subscribers, all of you should have access to Fusion. All you will need to do is download Fusion, and log in using your Autodesk Account credentials. Furthermore, Andrew Anagnost, our CEO, recently announced that we are giving free access to all of our cloud products, including Fusion.
There are absolutely areas where Fusion falls a little short, but in the same stroke, Fusion offers a lot of features and functionality that leave me wishing for more from FeatureCAM. I don't know that one tool is better than the other...they're just different.
If you get Fusion open and have no idea where to start, there are a few really good learning resources online:
- Self Pace Learning - this site is my go-to for learning anything Fusion.
- Fusion 360 YouTube Channel - LOTS of activity here. Tutorials, live streams, new features videos.
- Lars Christensen - Can't talk about Fusion without bringing up Lars. Lars is not only a great guy but is the original godfather of Fusion 360 learning on YouTube.
This was quite the wall of text, but hopefully, it starts some good dialog! Let me know how you and your team are adapting to these strange times, and let me know how I can help!
