I am trying to machine a I.D. groove on a Haas lathe. my co worker drew the insert configuration and used that for the insert shape, can anyone tell me how this works, and why when i run the simulation the tool over and under cuts the part? I have been trying to watch videos on this but i need to get work done.

Unfortunately without (at least) the tool I can not help you, I would have given you some links where you can see how to create custom tools, but this you have already said that you did not need.
I'm sorry

I worked with DEV at autodesk, he showed me that to machine the groove configuration i wanted i would have to use a boring bar operation. its not exactly what i want for a tool path but it works.
