Trochoidal roughing

How can I make a trochoidal path for rouging that opened channel ? I've tried to make with curly corner but is not ok.

Hi @grosucsm,

Thanks for posting on forum. Vortex for open pocket seems not possible.

To trochoidal mill  an open pocket or side in FeatureCAM using the vortex strategy, do the following:

  1. Create a closed boundary. Where, the outside of the boundary is larger than the stock material. The boundary limits that are outside of the stock must be large enough to fit the complete diameter of the tool.
  2. Create a pocket or side from curve.
  3. Select the Stepover type option as Vortex.                                                           User-added image
  4. On the Pocket/Side properties tab, select Rough.
  5. Click on the Milling tab, and do the following:
  • Select *Rough pass Z increment option, to change the Rough pass Z increment to the complete cutting length of the tool. This creates a toolpath with only one pass in the Z direction.
  • Select *Vortex min radius option, to set the Vortex min radius to manually set the radius for the trochoidal movement. If values are left blank, then the system selects a default value.                                                                                            User-added image

Note: Changing the plunge point to a point outside of the stock boundary may be necessary if a ramping entry move is not desired.

Thank You.
