I've been using Featurecam for 6 months and I still don't understand why it does this.
I'm running ver. 2019 though this happened it 2018 as well.
When applying cutting features to a solid or surface model there are copies of surfaces created that are associated with that feature. They are usually purple.
The problem is if I move a set of surfaces of the original model I expect the cutting feature to update to the new location but it does not since those surface copies are in the background.
How do you all deal with moving and copying cutting features?

Hi @cmoore,
Welcome to Autodesk Community!
Moving the surfaces or solids doesn't update the features although they are associated with the surface or solid model. You will have to transform the features as well. You can select them simultaneously when you are trying to transform the solid or surfaces using Cntrl key. Also make sure to resize the stock to accommodate the transform features.
If I am missing something, let me know.
Thank You.

Thanks for the reply Abhishek,
I tried to include a model but it seems I am not allowed.
I made a surface model with 2 pockets and added cutting features. I decided later to move one of the pockets but since some of the features cut both pockets then those features will not move. It seems you can't move just some of the entities in a feature.
This also happens when I copy features from one .fm file to another file in a family of parts sort of way. If there are the same number of features but in slightly different places the cutting features will not change to the new sizes. The purple surfaces are copied in as well which seems to stop the features from updating to the new model. I don't want to have to delete the feature and start over.
Thanks for you help,
Chris

Hi @cmoore,
I apologize for not responding sooner.
I have created a video about transforming the features while transforming the surfaces. Let me know if I am missing something.
If my post answers your query, please click accept as solution button. If not please provide more details with fm file. If you can't attach the fm file, archive it in zip, then attach.
Thank you for keeping patience.

Thanks Abhishek,
The sound stops half way through the video but I was able to follow along any way.
I understand better now how to select entities to handle this situation now.
