Making the change to FeatureCam
We are currently tooling up for some new equipment as well as are cam software.
I have a nice library in another cam software and im having heck of a time extracting it, to import to FeatureCam.
Im basically trying to use a mastercam tool library as my extract, and featurecam as my import.
I have no idea where to begin. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi,
I do not know if you can use the tool library from Mastercam, but at the first time I would try to export the tools from Mastercam in *.*xml format, because this format you can read in FeatureCAM.

Thank you for your reply, so far I have exported as .txt, this is the only option so far that I have found for exporting my tool library.
Next option is .tooldb
This is a tricky situation I may just be missing a step somewhere.

Hello @Anonymous,
Welcome to Autodesk Community!
FeatureCAM can import the tool database in .XML or .TDB format. If you can export tools in above formats, they can be imported in FeatureCAM.
Or
Other method is we can use network database whose extension is .MDB and which is generally used to import tools from PowerMill tool database in to FeatureCAM. I have never done with Mastercam but worth to try.
Thank You.

Abhishek

Mastercam can use the .txt or .tooldb formats.
.txt is a comma delimited CSV file format.
.tooldb is a mysql database format.
So you could potentially convert the mysql format to the MDB format or use ODBC to connect...

Hi,
I think the most quick way to do this, must be to convert your MasterCAM database to SQL and then catch up to this server from FeatureCAM.. I really don't know if you can, but think it should have a try.

Thanks to all
Im learning that Its almost easier to just create my tool on the fly as it will be saved to my tool data base for practically ever.
