Thanks but the part is wider and longer than the Y axis travel so the only way to mill around the profile is to rotate the C axis. Surface mill will rotate C only if the cutter is at an angle other than 90° to the table. In this case we want the cutter to be square with the table and spin the C axis to go around the part. Was thinking about putting a very small angle and using surface milling and that would force it to rotate C, but was hoping for a 'proper' solution.
Would prefer to use a side mill operation but the options for 5 axis settings don't keep the cutter in one place and let the part spin. It has orientation angle but that still locks the C axis at a specific angle and the cutter still drives around the part. We do this type of milling on our mill-turn machine but can't figure out how on the Haas UMC750.
