I was asking this question not too long ago. Since then I've realized that the Code Editor/Viewer that works best for me is the Multi Channel Editor that comes with Partmaker/FeatureCAM. If you do not want to use that then another one that I found useful was Notepad++. With Notepad++ you can do a search on the web for a syntax highlighter and it will have some basic G code highlights that you can go in and edit for your specific machine(s). 

 

If you want to pay money for a code editor then Cimco Edit seems to be popular among those who use MasterCAM. At least that's the case here at my shop.

 

Keep in mind that when you're looking for a code editor it doesn't necessarily have to be specifically for G code. I'll list a few that come to mind but my experience with these are limited so I wouldn't be able to help much with getting them setup:

 

Sublime Text

Pycharm (originally designed for Python Language)

Atom
