I have a 6mm endmill with a 2.5mm radius to put a nice contour edge around my parts. Thinking I would be able to use the "chamfer" operation, Fusion wont allow it saying I have the wrong tool.
I have tried using the 2D contour operation on a part I have blended a radius into already on my model. But it does not work as it should, I have to play around with heights to get it correct. Being a 2.5mm radius I thought a 2.5mm under the top of my model should work but it doesn't. So this model I left the edges unblended.
This example, I have a 6mm cutter, 2.5mm radius. Set to run around the contour. The Z height is correct on the simulation, Z=-2.5mm , but on the X and Y on the zero WCS the cutter runs around at -3mm, not -0.5mm so will miss the part completely around the outside. Can someone point to the correct operation? I was thinking I can just put a negative number in the axial "stock to leave" but is that correct? Sample attached. Thanks in advance.

Your first toolpath in that file is leaving 0.5mm stock on everywhere. If you turn that off then you get a proper blend on the corner in the stock simulation with the second toolpath. I think you are correct in adding a -2.5mm offset to the contour. I have only used corner rad tools a few times and I've actually modelled the corner then selected the lower edge (same difference).
Also have you checked that your tool is properly defined. You have diameter and shaft diameter both set at 6mm. Diameter is the diameter of the very tip of the tool as shown in the tool graphic when you define it.

Thats it!! Thanks for that. I had it set at 6mm, so it was doing as expected. Once I changed the diameter to 1mm which is whats at the end of the cutter, ran the sim, perfect. Awesome thanks.

I thought it might have been that. I made a similar mistake the first time I used a corner rad tool!
Fusion
