Completely confused about the nesting feature ... arrange works but not with manufacturing model, nest doesn't work
so i have a pretty simple task ahead of me. i have 3 different parts of which i need to cut out 4 of each from a 50x60cm multiplex stock.
I have enabled the Nest preview feature and also the Arrange and simplify in the design preferences.
I have been going through this help document: https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=NST-GET-STARTED without much success. When i try to follow step by step i'm stuck at this step https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=NST-CREATE-STUDY when i select create nest study i get an error that no packaging has been defined (despite me completing the previous steps successfully and making sure that nesting is enabled).
i managed to get the Arrange feature to work in the Design workspace and of course i can use that for the time being but it would be nice to be able to use the manufacturing model feature with this.
I've tried this several times and sometimes the nest dialog does come up and the packaging i created is displayed. I check all my nest options and hit ok and Fusion crashes (error report CER_232832099).
When i look at tutorials it seems these all refer to previous or different versions of Fusion, for example this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIBMX-oVasU seems to hav a design workspace inside the manufacturing workspace, i do not have this. Here's the workspace from the video:
and here is mine:
no acess to the arrange feature from the manufacturing workspace with a manufacturing model here.
Has anyone gotten this to work or is this feature not functional yet. I searched the forum and the web but unfortunately i couldn't find a simple step by step video that would bring me closer to understand this.
also i'm very confused about the term 'Packaging' .. where does this come from ? As far as i understand it the packaging refers to the stock. Or is the nest feature not intended to use fro milling out solid parts and only meant for cardboard boxes ?

EDIT: please disregard the part about not having the design space editing tools with the manufacturing model, i finally figured out that i need to right click on the manufacturing model and choose edit to get this. So i can now use the arrange feature with the manufacturing model which is probably the better solution for me since it's a pretty simple nest i'm after.
the part about the confusion with the nesting feature still stands however, so if anyone could shed some light on this that would be welcome.
