Jerky Vertical lead in with adaptive clearing and Haas post
I'm having trouble with the vertical lead ins with adaptive clearing. When I post my program all the vertical lead ins for the adaptive clearing are g1 straight line moves instead of arcs and subsequently not very smooth. Is there a way to have adaptive clearing output arcs for the vertical lead in with the Haas post? If someone can guide me I would be happy to modify the Haas post.

If the Vertical lead-in is out of plane they will be linearized. There is no way to avoid that.
What year and model do you have?

I didn't realize that it always linearizes the vertical lead in. My machine is a brand new super mini mill 2.

Do you have the high speed option?
Have you tired adding G187 P1 E.05 just before roughing?
If you don't want to use G187 you can also change it using setting 191.

I havn't tried setting the g187 to p1 but I will give it a try. I have the g187 turned on in the post but it always gives me a P2 value instead of P1. Do you know what dictates which P value the post assigns?

I have not had great luck with having the G187 done automatically in the post. It uses some logic to determine if you are leaving stock and if it is greater than your operation tolerance.
Part of the problem is that it sets E to what ever you have set in you tolerance for the operation. So it you have your tolerance set to .001" and are leaving stock you would get G187 P2 E.001 The default setting from haas is G187 P2 E.025 IMO changing E to .001 slows it down not speed it up from default.
I changed my post to output G187 P1 E.05 when I am leaving stock.
You can also set G187 without changing E value if you want to just leave it at the default that is set in the settings.
