4axis Milling simple crank
Hi,
Is there a way to 4axis mill this part in fusion. I would like to use a tool thats close the the tapwith and rotate the 4th axis and just follow the shape down since 2 taps are offcenter. I dont like the 2 piece patch way. would it be possible to step down in in Z the flow strategy ?
Or how would you do it when using 4th axis.

The BEST toolpath for this would be the Rotary toolpath:
Rotary is currently in Preview. You can turn it on by going up to your name on the top right and selecting Preferences. At the bottom of the new screen you will see "Preview Features". It's buried in there.
Now, for the disappointing news; once Rotary is moved out of Preview, it will become an option in the Manufacturing Extension, which is a monthly consumption of 125 cloud credits. Depending on usage and need, this may or may not be desirable.

Thanks for a good answer. Its starting to look more usable. But still Its not possible to cut in full depth. I cant find any way in this rotary option to step down, or spiral down in Z.

Its tool steel so quit tough. But as finishing strategy i would prob work good.

There are many other software options out there that are going to do this sort of thing a LOT better, but I suspect you already know that. The best Fusion could do (currently( is a series of 3D Adaptive toolpaths at set orientations, but it's not the motion being showcased in the video you link

Yes I do. but i find this quite simple 4 axis rotary work? It would be really good with a "multiple stepdown" option in the rotary strategy, becouse even with multiple 3d adaptive it would leave alittle to much to just plow straight around as the rotary option does. Its closer what we need but have some multiple stepdowns etc to ask for.
Do you know why its not possible to wrap a 2d contur toolpath around a circular path? I mean it feels like the "thing" you want todo as a finish pass, on this part around the bearing taps for example.

And as in the videos I need to use a small indexable cutter with a quite long shaft to have the reach. So full engagment in Z is not an option.
