tapping with f360
Hello all,
i have always had an issue tapping with fusion. most likely im not using the dwell feature properly, or this could possibly be a post processor issue, not to sure yet.
basically any and every time i try to tap a hole with f360 it taps perfectly until it gets to the bottom of the hole..
from what i can tell the dwell and spindle rotation don't seem to be sync'd. it would appear that the spindle stops for the dwell, but starts its exit in z axis before it ever reverses. meaning that during the dwell period it actually only stops the spindle rotation not the z axis. amazingly enough i have probably tapped 50 holes or so this way and never even broke a tap. i've actually had taps come out of the holders and stay in the part, but haven't broken a tap.
usually i just skip the tapping anymore and do them at a manual mill(not much production work here luckily).
does anyone have a solution to this? im pretty positive im just not checking a box or turning a feature on, but i could be wrong.

Well, what is the post processor being used and what is the controller? Are you giving it the right codes for tapping?

either the haas pre ngc or the milltronics generic post. i haven't got tapping to work in any machine.
i mean cycle settings for tapping operations on fusion only asks what kind of tapping you will be doing and a dwell. i don't see how i can screw this up lol.

Tapping has always worked for me. Are you sure your controller has rigid tapping?
Using drill->right tapping.

Can you post a file, as well as your post output for a hole?
