How to cut out part and not whole stock?
Hey! I'm super new to this, so I'd like to get some help! I have made these parts, but I don't understand the concept how to make it so it cuts out only the part not clears out the whole stock? When I took 3d adaptive clearing it takes ages to render the cut, because it thinks it has to cut the whole material out to just leave the part. How do I make it cut only the bodies I've made and how do I make it so it cuts through all of the 8mm thickness. I added a pic and my file!
This is how it makes it when adaptive clearing. I need it to not cut all the blue part and just cut out the bodies!

The file you attached contains only a couple sketches and no CAM data. Did you attach the correct file?

Ok, your parts are relatively 2D in shape. Why not just use 2D Contour instead of Adaptive?

I tried 2d contouring,but it the mill doesn't go through all of the material! How do I make it so the mill goes through all of it and frees the parts, without leaving a tiny part uncut?

If you are actually using a Ball Endmill, you are going to have a cusp at the bottom of the part. You can use the Tabs function to restrain the part and set your Bottom Height as the Selected Contour with an additional Offset of the radius of the tool.
Oh, and in your sample, you've selected the Sketch and it's cutting on the inside of the part..
And if you are referring to the Simulation appearing to leave material, that's just the Simulation. It's not the highest quality display, but it gets the job done for now..

Sorry for so many questions, but thanks a million for the answers! I'm learning more every day! How do I make it so it cuts on the outside of the selected sketch and not inside? And what would be the best way of not making those "cusps", what tool should be used to remove the part out of the material?

You can ask as many questions as you want ![]()
To cut on the outside, your easiest method is to turn off your sketch and make the selections on the model. When both model and sketch are turned on, 9 times out of 10 it will select the sketch
For tooling, I'd suggest a flat endmill or "bull" endmill that has a small radius for strength. Assuming this is wood or plastic, sharp corner will be fine.

I have selected the contours of the model, but it still cuts inside of it, any idea why, could you try and check it out for yourself please? Would you suggest a bull nose for 2d milling the whole part out?

Tooling is going to depend on material. If it's metal or hard plastic/oak, I'd likely go with an endmill with a small radius (R.01")
