Adaptive clearing

I am using adaptive clearing on a part with square square stock about 1.5 inch thick 6061 Alum with 1/2 2F end mill and I am milling a octagon Opt 1 mills .75 and I turn over to mill second half with 4 inch jaws and when it gets down to final passes I get chatter.  Can adaptive clearing be used on a removing material outside to inside instead of top to bottom ?  I tried the contour but is does not account for stock. Looking for suggestion to limit chatter.

It would be most helpful if you could export your project as a .F3D and attach it here, as it is it's a little difficult to envision how it is being machined now.

Maybe you could try to go deeper but less stepover.

Maybe go full depth but only 5-10% of your tool diameter.

those small stepdowns are no good for your tool :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

Maybe that could solve your chatter problems aswell

I have not got use the to mill yet so I was going light but I see what you are saying about the tool deeper but less step over. Thank you very much.

I would recommend full depths of cut and limit your set over based on spindle power. It will save time and tools in the long run and produce much better looking parts.
