Preparation of Aluminum Profiles for CNC Milling
Hello everyone,
Iām new here and would like to ask for advice on how to properly set up components from a project for CNC milling.
I have created components for different types of aluminum profiles that are ready for milling (the CNC machine is set to cut, drill holes, etc.).
In my projects, I usually disconnect these components and modify their parameters (most often adjusting the length of the profiles). The designs typically involve constructing a framework from profiles arranged in various orientations (vertically, horizontally, or rotated in different directions).
To simplify the milling process, Iāve developed a setup for clamps to hold the profiles on the CNC table. These clamps allow profiles to be securely fixed during the milling process. Additionally, Iāve created a āSketchā to represent the layout of the profiles, where I use the āArrangeā function to organize them.
The clamps can hold up to 30 profiles, each 3 meters long, which greatly improves efficiency.

While this setup works quite well, Iāve encountered some challenges:
1. When manually selecting each profile type, they sometimes flip or rotate unexpectedly, and I canāt figure out how to fix this. Adjusting one profile often causes others to rotate as well.
Problem:
2. Iām looking for an easy way to rotate the profiles by 90 degrees to allow milling from different sides.
3. Is there a way to create a sketch or another solution where Fusion 360 automatically knows how to arrange the profiles and rotate them correctly to streamline the entire process as much as possible?
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help. ![]()

I would program all of this with a single body/pair selected and Linear pattern your toolpaths. It's going to become hectic to keep track of 4 setups with 30 components inside of it changing orientation.
