Undercutting Oil Groove with Lollipop Mill

Hello,

I am trying to cut an oil groove in the attached part.  First oil groove will be a negative z plunge which I have figured out,  Next groove would be the side. I would like to move negative in y, negative in z, then positive in y to cut the next oil groove with the same lollipop mill used for the top groove.  Flipping the part and plunging in z is not an option due to interference.  I will also have to create the same groove on the positive side not shown.  I spent all day yesterday trying to get 2D contour, 3D contour and steep and shallow to work using the under cut function under steep and the product either doesn't recognize what I'm trying to do or I have something selected wrong.  Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

That's a rather odd shaped oil groove. I think the only way you're going to fake it is with a Trace toolpath and fair bit of trial and error.

is the lollipop the right size? i'd make a 3D sketch and hope that Trace will abide by it all.

The lollipop is undersized,  I can always change the size of the groove to match and try it.

Thanks
