December 2023 Post Processor and Machine Simulation What's New
Post Processor and Machine Simulation What’s New
Looking for the latest post processors and machines updates? Look no further!
We are continually working hard to bring you updates and improvements to the many open-source Post Processors and Machines we offer for free, but those updates often get lost in the shuffle of other enhancements or big feature releases. This post aims to update you on newly added or improved post processors and machines, so you can stay up to date on what you use today or look for news so you can get the most out of Fusion 360.
This post will get refreshed with notable updates as they’re released, and you can click each hyperlink to go to the mentioned post. As always, you can find the latest in our post processor offering on the Online Post Library where you can search by vendor, type, or name, and see any recent changes to each post processor.

1. Improved Post Processors
We are always working to keep post processors up to date with new technologies. This is a summary of the main improvements made to post processors already in the library.
Milling Post Processors
The startup and ending blocks now match for each split file in the Grbl post processors.
Fanuc Inspection, Hurco Inspect Surface
Fixed "DPRINT STATEMENT FORMAT ERROR" issue in several Inspection post processors.
Output the WF=1 parameter on saw operations to properly set the face number in the Felder Profit post processor
The startup and ending blocks now match for each split file in the Grbl post processors.
Updated maho philips post to use shared content across post processors.
- Optimized the output of the M12/M22 codes in MultiCam ISO post processor.
- Added a property to select the proper unit of time (minutes, seconds) for feedrates in the MultiCAM post processor.
Updated Roland ISO post processor to support multiaxis codes.
An error is now output for the unsupported fine-boring and back-boring cycles in the Tormach post processor.
Mill-Turn Post Processors
Updated CNC New mill turn post to use newest post engine capabilities.
Turning Post Processors
Tormach 8L Turning, Tormach 15L Turning
Fixed "variable text redeclares argument" warning message when post processing in the tormach turning post processors.
Additive Post Processors
Changed the layer number output in the fff post processors.
Added 'FLAVOR' keyword to the NC program output in the BCN3D post processor.
Mill and Waterjst/Laser/Plasma Post Processors
Updated smoothie post to use shared content across post processors.
Setup Sheet Post Processors
Fixed the pattern ID in the Result Generator Probing post processor.
2. New Machines
Machine Library
The Machine Library lets you manage your machine tools by using Machine Configurations to define your available machines and resources. These configurations can automate the settings in your Job Setup.
There are many Machine Configurations available in the standard library.
The following configuration files do not contain any 3D model, but have all the settings required to optimize your post processor for these specific machines:
The easiest way to get started, is to copy an existing configuration that matches some of the characteristics of your machine.
3. Improved Workholdings
Workholding Library
The Workholding library lets you add a workholding equipment (vise, table, tombstone, etc.) to a manufacturing model. Those can be found in the "CAM Samples" project folder that you can find in the Fusion 360 data panel:
Updated 3 Haas vices for standards.
Updated 6 Lang vices for standards.
Routine maintenance on Renishaw documents.
4. Tool Library Add-ins
The Dormer Pramet tool library add-in gives you access to Dormer Pramet application products for Autodesk Fusion 360. The library is hosted and maintained by Dormer Pramet to ensure you have access to the latest application products in their catalog.
5. Post Processor Engine
Our development team is always working to update and fix the Autodesk CAM Post Processor engine. These modifications are not related to a specific postprocessor (as described above) but affect the entire library or at least the post processors using that specific class. The current post processor kernel is 4.6034.
The repositionToCycleClearance function now outputs the correct location when a machine with offset tables/heads is defined.
Improved warning when "Work Offset has not been specified. using G54".
You can find here all the information regarding the Autodesk CAM Post Processor engine.
6. Post Processor Ideas
To make our library more varied and complete, we are always working on new post processors. Some of them still need more testing before being released in the public library. Every new Beta post processor is announced in the Idea Station, you can find all of them in the Post Processor Idea Station.
Please note that if you choose to use one of these post processors, you assume all inherent risk in using it and we ask that you proceed with caution.
That being said, we are looking forward to get your feedback!
