Solidworks assembly import with Autodesk connector

Does anyone use a workflow of designing assemblies in Solidworks and then using Autodesk connector to get them into Fusion for CAM? I've tried just about everything I can think of to make it work and can never get the assembly to open in Fusion. It produces an error saying the file can't be opened every time. I've also tried creating a very simple assembly with just a block and cylinder, then the assembly will open, but only the block is in the file, although it is shown as a part in the folder.

This is not looking like a reliable option so far. I get the feeling that if I got it to work, it would easily break. I like cnc programming in Fusion, but for designing we use Solidworks. I know HSM is an option as a plugin for solidworks, but I don't like the interface...

Thanks for any ideas here.
