Weird wiggly tool 2d pocket tool path

Since i have had some problems with bits lately.   I was closely watching my tool.   I noticed that on a ramp the bit wiggled back and forth on the tool path.    I thought i was going to loose the bit.   Any way i checked the gcode plot and sure enough ther it was.

Is this some wierd way off meeting some ramp criteria?

Can you take a screenshot of that backplot?  Really hard to know exactly what you mean just like that.

Here is a screen shot of the candle file...note the squiggles on the ramp in the bttm right.

That looks fun...  is the part a straight normal corner in that area?

What operation type is this?

No way you can share that file I guess?

If anyone wants to take over, go for it...  after today's update my anti-virus has decided to block Fusion and the exception failed, so I'll probably have to reinstall Fusion (it won't start)...  eventually, but not today.  Sorry about that @jscott6SWZG .

Yep, same here, I had to reinstall after todays debacle update, update downloaded OK but when I went to do the Fusion "restart" that is when my Norton blocked it saying that the "streamer.exe" was trying to delete a program, seems stuff is getting more "picky" as more bad stuff appears !! PITA !!

On an old Win 10 here and the Windows Anti Virus seems to let just about anything through, not much in the way of Patches etc coming through from Microsoft !! Visited them looking for any updates but it said I was fully up to date, really !!

OK rant over, I will have a go at the file :slightly_smiling_face:

I think it is mostly about selection and workflow, had a go at it and ended up with a different order for the Operations and different selections for the Pocket and the Contour, seems a bit better to me anyway, just the approach I would likely use, if any of it is of use to you then feel free to pick what you like and dump the rest, just a suggestion :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:

So by workflow you mean how the design is made?

@jscott6SWZG

Apologies if that is a bit misleading, what I mean is the way that you approach your selection of Operations/Toolpaths and how you use the multitude of selectable options within, quite often we are a little "spoilt for choice", I try to keep things as simple as possible, I can keep track of what I am doing easier :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:

As you can see from the file I uploaded my way of working (workflow) is different, doesn`t mean it is any better, just works for me :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:

K I selected 3d Pocket and for the life of me I cant get your stock contour...I have tried the ctrl key and the alt key just not working for me???

Also not sure if it will make a difference but I put the pocket cut first to ensure max stability of part during all cuts....ie cut the tabs last.

@jscott6SWZG

The reason I did the Contour first was to avoid the tool hitting solid stock every time it went out the pocket but it is entirely up to you how you do it. If the Contour has already been cut then the Pocket is just moving into clear air :slightly_smiling_face:

See image below for the Stock Contour selection, just open up your Sketches and select the outer edge of the "Top" sketch, I just used what was already there, I didn`t create anything new :slightly_smiling_face:
