I am finish turning a shaft before a threading operation. Material is Grade 8 bolt material. When finish profiling, after completing the pass, the tool travels at the same feed rate to position for the next pass, it doesn't rapid to X clearance nor to Z clearance. It isn't a big deal, but sure takes longer. What is the trick to get the lathe to reposition for the next pass in rapid mode.

@leo.castellon reduce your safe distance parameter in the links tab. Any tool motion happening within this distance from the model will be done at a "direct feed" rate which is equal to the cutting feed rate.

Thank you for the reply. I had it set to .080", so I tried it at .050" and had same result. Changed it to .025" and then it repositioned in rapid. Is there a rule of them in Fusion terms for a percentage for safe position move? That small of a clearance is fairly small, but then again, as long as it doesn't hit anything, I guess it will work.

@leo.castellon It's basically the distance you're comfortable with running the tool with a rapid feedrate close to the model. If you want to do the rapid move farther away from the model you can just increase your lead out distance.
