My company uses Trimble/Quickpen PD3D. We currently run it on AutoCAD MEP. We would like to know if Trimble/Quickpen PD3D can run on Autodesk Fabrication CADmep. Trimble/Quickpen says it can, but their answer seemed to gloss over the word "Fabrication"; I'd bet they think AutoCAD MEP & Autodesk Fabrication CADmep are the same thing. Has anyone actually ran Trimble/Quickpen PD3D on Autodesk Fabrication CADmep?

I have never personally ran that software package, but I observed someone else working with it. I remember being a little shocked that much of it was powered by Lisp routines rather than .net or an equivalent. This leads me to believe that it leans on AutoCAD and not the various verticals we run. So, I would say the odds are good that it does run with Fabrication given proper configuration.
Assuming you already have a licenses of both Fabrication and the Trimble software, then I would recommend you make them demonstrate its functionality on your equipment by giving them control via Gotomeeting (or something similar). This will prove it works and make sure it is properly configured from the start.

We use PD3D as well and are interested in the same function as we plan to migrate to CADmep soon.
Please share if you are successful in the operation of running the two simultaneously.
Thanks

Fabrication CADmep is just an add-on to AutoCAD.
Both PD3D and Fabrication can run on the same install of AutoCAD.
I will suggest that each has it's own shortcut and Do not load both at the same time.
