The fix that I was given was to force AutoCAD to use DirectX11. This has stabilized AutoCAD and made everything usable again. I hope this isn't the long-term fix, but it has been enough to stop the Heidi crashes. Use Dx11 (not Dx9), article linked here: How to use a previous DirectX version in AutoCAD Products
