Download Content is not working

I am almost positive this is because www.building3dcontent.com is not up.

What's the deal here? Is this service gone or is it just an issue that has not been reserved? My company just made the switch to Fabrication.

I am having the same issue a month after the original post. Is this site ever coming back on line? I have 5 computers to set up for the company I work for.

Still not working.. I wanna install charlotte fittings - specifically starter fitting.

I have Charlotte starter fittings (from a different software package) that when exploded will turn into 3D solids.  You could make equipment out of the solids, add CADMEP end connectors and/or any other needed data, as a temporary work around - at least it would give you placeholders with the correct space until you are able to access and download from the content site.

If interested, send me a private message with the needed charlotte fittings (Part Numbers) and an e-mail address

I'm told that all the content that was on that site is available within the default Autodesk Fabrication configurations (CADmep, CAMduct, ESTmep).

As Autodesk hasn't actively managed the content in a few years, I'd be cautious of using the content without verifying the dimensional accuracy.

If you need custom content built and don't want to do it yourself, this company is one of the leading providers of custom content for Autodesk Fabrication. https://itembuilders.com/

I think that I have heard that The Download Content was being shut down. You would have to ask Autodesk directly for confirmation.
Good luck,

I asked Autodesk directly about this issue and received the following response. It would seem this feature is gone. Luckily, a new one is in the works using forge. It seems they retired this tool due to all of the content already existing in the content libraries that come with the software.

Previously, the download content command would launch and bring you to a site  called "Building 3D Content" The site has been discontinued, and the command will be removed in later versions. This is why nothing happens in the 2019 version, but the command is returning unrecognized in the 2021 version.

This feature has been discontinued, see the comments from our Development team below:

In an effort to provide a better experience, we are working on a new MEP Fabrication content service, utilizing modern interactions and technologies built on the Autodesk Forge platform.  To maintain focus on that goal, Autodesk is retiring the content download service, http://www.building3dcontent.com/.  This portal was also accessible from commands and menu items within CADmep, ESTmep, and CAMduct.

Analysis of usage of the portal over the last several months of active use indicates that over 99.9% of the content downloaded was already available as part of CADmep, ESTmep, and CAMduct, and thus, downloading  from the site was redundant.  Additionally, it has been discovered that the in-product commands “Download Content to Here” and “Help > Download Content” are not functional when using the products with single user license subscription.

We look forward to developing a more modern approach for managing content.  To stay abreast of public information related to this initiative, please refer to communications via the Revit Roadmap.
