I know I had an issue early on with this. If you populate a design line before assigning a section in the Criteria tab, no matter how many times you remove 3d content and re-populate the design line with the correct section the hangers will never update. 

At that point you have to go to the Line tab > Edit and in that "Line Editor" prompt select all of your design line sections and then enter the right click menu and select "Item Information'. In that Item Information window you should see the same criteria option from the main Criteria tab. Changing these setting here will update the hangers to attach to the assigned section soffit height.
