Set your connectors up so that a small weld(its own itm) needs to be put in. If you have a buttweld service in your database it should be doing the same. Essential what you're doing is forcing the connectivity to put another piece (weld) in to connect up. Or you can just adjust the connectors breakpoints to get you the gap you are looking for.
