Did you ever receive insight on your question? I’m interested because I have wondered the same thing. I’m surprised at how questions like this go unanswered on such a specific forum.  In my opinion design line can be extremely useful and accurate when set up correctly. This is true for sheet metal and plumbing and piping. In fact importing from revit relies on design line. Using the attached method to correct and modify from there.   Still... let me know what you come up with! Thanks.
