Best practice to convert PDF drawings to ready to cut files for plasma table

I am from a duct shop where we receive PDF shop drawings from mechanical contractors to make duct for them. Our current practice is using CAMduct to input every single pieces of duct detailed in the PDF drawings in order to create the cut files for plasma tables or coil lines. This is what my company does for so many years as early as using Profile Master 2000 to CAMduct 2018.

Now it is almost end of 2018, and I want to change the way we make duct so I would like to learn from our community. My idea is instead of using CAMduct to input piece by piece of duct, is it better to use like, CADmep or Revit to redraw the drawing then export MAJ file to CAMduct for final touch? What do you think? What is the normal practice of other duct shops?

I am completely new to this industry and employed by my company for 6 months so not much experience.
