MEP Fabrication Ductwork Parameters
Im using Fabrication Parts in Revit & want to be able to add data to or create new custom parameters in ITM's.
I have located Alias, Edited by & product code when editing the ITM's.
Can someone please point me in the direction for Fabrication Product Data parameters OEM & Product Short Description?
Can I add custom parameters in ITM's that will display in Revit?
Regards
Russell

Since the fabrication portion is in its infancy within Revit there isn't much you can do with ITM and data. Now if your looking to add data once an ITM is placed in the project then what you could do is add a Project Parameter and assign it to Fabrication Parts. The bad thing with this approach is data can not be pre-canned. Hope this helps.

Is this accurate as of Revit 2017? Is there a way to add the parameters in Fabrication CADmep and have them read/modified in Revit? Thanks.

@Anonymous Did you ever find a solution to this? I have the exact same question. The online CADmep documentation (see link below) states that the parameters OEM and Product Short Description can be accessed and scheduled in Revit. But we can't seem to find these fields in the Item within CADmep.

Does anyone know how to use these fields?
Thanks!

This data is stored in the PRoduct Information database (ProdInfo for short) that the Fabrication Products use.
Use the Product Information Editor application to edit/add data.
A few things to note:
- By Default, the Revit Fabrication Configuration does NOT have and Product Information setup last I looked.
- Once you load the config, and content that references the ProdInfo is cached in Revit and will NOT be updated if it's later changed in the ProdInfo database even when reloading the configuration.

Hi @Anonymous,
Thanks for the reply. I had no idea the Product Information Editor or prodinfo.map existed. Thanks for the insight!
After playing with it a bit, it will do exactly what I'm looking for (add the Manufacturer and Short Desc fields). However, I can only get it to work with the out of the box imperial catalog/configuration. When I switch to our custom database and add our items to Product Information Editor, Revit doesn't seem to see that new prodinfo data. Is there a path I have to set to prodinfo.map or some other process I have to run for it to use/see that data??
Thanks again!

ITM Content needs an unique ID.
For non-product listed ITM Content, this code goes in the "Code" field in the "Item" tab of the ITM Properties Dialog.
For product listed content, the ITM needs an "ID" column added to the Product List.
This "ID" links to the "ID" in ProdInfo to pull in the data. It can also link to Labor and Price data if you're using Product Listed tables (as opposed to breakpoint tables).
For the product listed content, when you place a "size" from the product list, the ID automatically gets updated in the "Code" field that you use for non-product listed ITMs.

I have the ID/Codes populated with unique ID's. I did however notice that the prodinfo.map file is located in the DATABASE folder in the in out of the box content but in the COMMON folder in my configuration. Could that have something to do with it?

Most likely. Some things (MAP files) can be "Found" if moved to other select locations while others are location specific.
I believe ProdInfo is one of them.
