Visual Studio Community 2017 not working

Hello, I want a free version of visual studio that will allow me to download the inventor devtools.msi and create my own add-ins. I tried downloading VS community 2017 but still get the message that no version of VS is installed when I try to install the SDK.

The InventorWizards from DeveloperTools.msi does not support all versions of Visual Studio, you can find the supported VS from the ReadMe.htm like below:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 201x\SDK\SDK_Readme.htm

Till now the VS2017 is not supported yet, you can find a supported VS for your work. Hope this clears.

Thanks Rocky,

I can see from the Readme that with IV2015 the latest compatible version is VS2012, which is no longer available for download

I'm not a subscription customer, just looking for an express version. Does Inventor support the express version?

Older versions of Visual Studio may be downloaded here.

https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/older-downloads/

Scroll down the the 2012 section and click the download button.

You will need a team services account which you can setup for free.

Once you are signed in, you can download VS 2012 Express from there.
