Refresh Dynamo

Refresh Dynamo

Provide the ability to Refresh a Dynamo Graph.

Workflow

  1. Create Dynamo Graph
  2. Publish to Web / Formit
  3. Place Dynamo Object into Formit Model
  4. Return to Original Dynamo Graph
  5. Update Formulas / Variable Constraints
  6. Re-Publish (Overwrite) to Web/Formit
  7. Return to Formit - Select Dynamo Object and Have option to "Refresh" - It would Keep all existing set variables but update the graph / formulas per the updated Dynamo Graph.

Currently this workflow requires deleting the existing object and replace with a new Dynamo Object in the Formit Model.

Awesome idea, Mike! I run into this limitation often, and agree it would be super useful to update or refresh Dynamo workspaces that are already in the sketch while maintaining existing parameters. Lots of implications here, as you can imagine, like where you draw the line between modifying existing input parameters only and changing core code, deleting/adding inputs, and/or outputs so much that it prevents or limits a "clean" update, and also how this affects other identical or unique instances in the sketch, and how all the variants in the sketch are managed, etc. The FormIt and Dynamo teams are exploring possibilities here.

Hi Mike,

In FormIt 2021, we added the ability to "swap" Dynamo graphs. It doesn't maintain the parameter states you had before, but it does allow you to update the logic in an embedded graph, which wasn't possible before.

We can keep this request open for portion about swapping the graph, but not overwriting the parameter states when possible.
