Manage Sheet Lists in Forma

Managing a project sheet list across Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plant 3D, and other programs can be difficult. The planned sheet list is usually maintained separately and quickly gets out of sync as sheets are added, removed, renamed, or renumbered.

Forma could serve as the central location for planning and managing the project sheet list. It could compare the planned list with the sheets and layouts created in each project file and help teams:
• Manage the planned sheet list for all disciplines and authoring programs in one location.
○ Functionality to apply naming standards
• Compare the planned list with actual sheets to identify missing sheets, unplanned sheets, duplicates, and other differences.
• Push approved sheet numbers, titles, revisions, submittal information, and other title-block data to Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plant 3D, and other supported software.
• Create and maintain coordinated sheet indexes for use in Revit and CAD drawings.
• Track sheet status and report planned sheets versus sheets created by discipline, facility, or submittal.
• Reduce manual data entry, spreadsheets, blank Revit placeholder sheets, Sheet Set Manager files, and third-party add-ons.
This would help users understand which sheets need to be created or updated, help BIM Coordinators identify differences between the planned list and project files, help engineers confirm that required drawings are included, and help engineering managers monitor progress and potential deliverable gaps.

Sheet creation progress could remain separate from design completion. For example, Forma could report that 80 percent of the planned sheets have been created without suggesting that the design itself is 80 percent complete.

This would give the project one reliable source for planning, creating, tracking, and reporting sheets across multiple authoring programs. It could also reduce manual spreadsheet maintenance, eliminate blank Revit placeholder sheets, and reduce the need for AutoCAD Sheet Set Manager files and third-party sheet-management add-ons.
