Vector format imports

Hi all!

A wish form me and my team: I would be fabulous is Forma was able to import vector format files and not rasterize them. PDF, and such.

Not being a programmer or computing specialist I have no idea what kinds of problems this would possible cause on performance, but the feature would certainly benefit both accuracy and aesthetics of projects.

Hi, and thank you for your feedback — it’s been noted and appreciated.

At the moment, Forma does not support importing PDF files directly. However, we do support a range of other file formats:

  • 3D geometry: .ifc, .obj
  • 2D geometry: .dxf
  • Images: .png, .jpg, and .jpeg

If you have a PDF you'd like to use, we recommend converting it to one of the supported formats. For example:

  • If it contains 2D drawings, try converting it to a .dxf file.
  • If it’s image-based, you can export the pages as .png or .jpg.

Please note that the maximum file size we support is 100MB.

If you're working in Revit or Rhino, you can import .dwg or .dxf files into those tools and then bring them into Forma using our extensions. You’ll find these in the Forma Extensions panel.

For more detailed instructions, here are some helpful guides and documentation:

Dont support PDF upload? Thats a big unfortunately.

You need the Basic Features that Miro have, at least.
