Setting parking targets

In Forma Classic there was a possibilty to analyze required parking spots by setting parking targets for various functions in Project Settings. This kind of tool is very crucial in larger scale design projects where parking and buildings needs to be fitted together. Is this feature already available on Standard projects or is it under development?

I'm using already parking tool for buildings and TestFit-extension which are useful when designing and calculating parking spots!

Hi, and thanks for reaching out!

This is not something we are currently developing. We are working on more general upgrades to the Area Metrics functionality, and will consider adding a calculation of required parking once those are released.

What would you need for a calculation of required parking spots to be useful? The solution in Classic was to set targets either for parking spots per area, or for parking spots per apartments. Is this sufficient? Are there other ways of defining requirements that would be useful to you?

Regards,
Espen

Thank you for a good answer! The solution in Classic with setting targets for both parking spots per area and per apartments was useful, and we would be happy to have the same calculation feature in some way in Standard aswell.

@espen.k.w.wold

A user specified site requirement for a fixed number of parking units should be a basic feature disregarding whether the parking type be indoors, exterior, accessible, public, private or other. My reasoning is that programmatic and regulatory parking requirements vary from one municipality to another and the rules for calculating are not always linked to other project metrics.

To contribute to the discussion as to what other means of establishing target, I would maybe distinguish the total site parking target by using a term other thant "target" when referring to a number of parking spaces related to another metric. Maybe the word "goal" could be used for a target based on a mathematical relationship to the number of units or building area.

Hope this helps,
