Is it possible to duplicate a project entirely? The use for this is if we have many iterations we do not want to show to all people invited in the project. This would just be confusing when we might have 7-8 iterations that have led to the final one?

Currently it is not possible, but I understand where you are coming from and it is definitely on our radar. I can't say when it will be possible, but I am aware it is a need to collaborate both internally and externally. Noting your feedback for now, and will appreciate any nuances or thoughts you may have in this regard.

Please make copying of elements between projects as a priority. It is super frustrating to have it shaved-off Spacemaker and it cost a LOT of time to do everything over and over again manually.

The "add to library" feature makes no sense, one can add only single elements, name of object gets lost, relative position of elements to each other, function... plus that is not intuitive at all to use.

Hi @danielzambori thanks for your candid feedback, I really do appreciate it. Would you be open to jumping on a call to share your experience in a bit more detail?
We are specifically looking at duplicating projects these days but it naturally has connections to the existing library functionality too. Keen to know more about your workflow and expectations in regards to both of those.

Hi Kasper,

Any updates on project duplication in ACC? We see a lot of utility there.

Thanks - Adam

Hey Adam,
Leveraging ACC/Docs for Forma is a high priority, but it's taking time to build for such a big change. We are actively working on this though, and I'd love to get your input, understand what utility you see and get a better feel for which workflows are most valuable to start. If you are open to a chat, could you shoot me an email on kasper.herlov@autodesk.com and we can setup 30 min session or something in that scope? 🙂

Will do.

Main goals would be to:

-Set up 3-4 template projects with typical custom tags/custom templates for specific use cases

-There are scenarios where a building project will split into multiple components (Say a facade job will evolve into a roof replacement) and we'd like to duplicate the ACC project to let us work separately.

Thanks for the response.

Was there ever any result from this thread?

Similar circumstances for us ... many buildings with common elements that only require take-off once.  The ability to duplicate at that point to take-off building unique elements would be a real time saver.

I really don't understand why Autodesk does not employ people who actually use ACC / Revit / etc. so that they know what is actually required out of a product. Providing a functionality to duplicate an ACC project is as simple as a 'save as' with a bit of coding behind. Why is this not even happening today in 2025?  One cannot even copy/paste folders inside a project, just 'move' that is not really that helpful. Many times, projects change during the course of planning/design/construction and thus one might want to have a snapshot in time for the project for future reference. It is not rocket science to be able to do this surely, but it can save a lot of time and money to people. Any update on this Kasper, please?

FYI - Response from correspondence in April 2025. Sounds positive except that this thread is about to be two years old and there is no way we are the only people requesting this.  Leaving it here in the expectation that someone may still need to read this in 2027!

  1. I've also submitted your desired workflow as a Feature Request directly to our Product Development Team to be included in a future update.
  2. While I don't have an ETA on when/if this functionality will be included, I'm happy to advocate on your behalf directly as it does seem like a good idea.
  3. Our Takeoff Product Team are doubtless aware of this, the ACC product forums are closely-monitored by those teams,
  4. Hopefully this functionality is implemented soon! I've passed your feedback up accordingly to add your voice what the team are hearing from our other customers.

Whilst I appreciate the response, there is clearly the usual disconnect between sales support and the devs. Won't be holding my breath for any copy / duplicate / clone options in the future and we are investigating alternatives.

This seems like low hanging fruit.
