CFD Animated Streamlines like ParaView

Hi everyone,

First and foremost, thank you for bringing CFD into Autodesk Forma — that’s no easy task, and it’s exciting to see it integrated. I’m wondering if there might be a future possibility to animate the streamlines in viewer mode, or even export videos of those animations. Being able to show clients how wind interacts with building masses through animated streamlines would be incredibly powerful.

Right now, having all streamlines visible at once can feel overwhelming, and animation could help improve clarity and communication.

I’m happy to schedule a call to demonstrate how ParaView with Eddy3D and Butterfly CFD handle similar workflows for comparison.

I’m also interested in exploring more micro-scale wind analysis in Forma for specific scenarios. For example, we have a perforated sliding door, and I’d like to analyze how much wind is diminished when it’s closed versus how much passes through when it’s open.

Thanks again for the great work on CFD — looking forward to seeing how it evolves. @Andres_Dsilva @daniel.silva.gameiro

Hello! Thank you for reaching out, and thank you very much for this feedback, we really appreciate it!

We are taking good note of your requests and will follow them up internally.

When it comes to the streamlines, I want to point that you have some controls over which sets of streamlines you want to see (filtered by importance, height variation or height), and that you can further tweak them adjusting the amount and density.

We would be very interested to know some more about your needs and how you would like to interact with the wind analysis and the streamlines, but also any other Forma analyses that you use.
I will reach out to you in by private message.

Thank you.

Thanks, @maxime_briens I look foward to connecting with you.

Here’s a link to ParaView for you to review:

I’m also not sure if this has been brought up before, but is there a reason the streamlines are limited to 8 meters above ground level instead of something closer to 2 meters above the ground plane? It’s a small detail, but switching the display from meters to feet would also be really helpful for users who aren’t as familiar with the metric system.
