slope-based constraints

Hi,

I agree that the Constraints function is quite useful during the process of studying a proposal. However, in my location, the height ratio constraint is examined based on an angled line (as shown in the picture). This means that the current constraint, which only allows vertical extrusion, may not be suitable for my location's regulatory requirements. I was wondering if it would be possible to add some adjustments to the Constraints function that would allow for slope-based constraints? This could enhance the flexibility and applicability of the tool.

Thanks for the feedback!

Great to hear that you see the value in the Constraints and thank you for your description of the need of  having sloped constraints as well! We have received similar feedback from others and it is definitely something we want to support in the future. I am not able to say when we will implement this option of having sloped constraints but I will let you know when I know more.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Arne

Hi @arne.bjelland

I have the same question of the original post, Have you worked on any updates on this topic?

I have a client who wants to incorporate Forma into his envelope space study process for future designs. They need to create a 3D constraint with a more complex shape (with tilt on certain faces, setbacks, etc.)

I hope to have news soon!

Hi @Juan_Yusta_f

We're working on this. 🙌 In fact, we're using FormIt's 3D technology to enable these types of modifications on Constraints.

Like Arne said, I can't divulge much more at this time. But rest assured it's being actively built, and we do plan to bring this capability to Forma as soon as possible.

Stay tuned!

Hi @am_tb,

No update yet beyond what I mentioned above. We're actively working on the ability to edit Constraints in 3D.

Can't promise an exact timeline on this, but we're getting close. Stay tuned!
