Saving Revit Models Query

I'm relatively new to using ACC and noticed a potential issue when saving a non workshared revit model to docs. When I save, everything seems normal, but when I look at the file on Autodesk Desktop App the save date/time is not the time I saved the model. Where is the saved version of my revit model stored before its published?

The same place. Publishing creates a snapshot of the model. Any synchronized modifications will not show up until it is published again.
