Walk activity for an operator

Hello,

When I use a Walk activity in Process Flow (inside a task sequence) and set the destination to the a Location (like a floor spot), the operator begins walking from the model’s origin (or somewhere far away from the current location) and then drifts toward the target.

How can I position an operator exactly at a specified location like a floor spot in a General Process Flow?

if I use Travel to an Object (Floor Spot): the operator doesn’t align with the center or rotate correctly.

What’s the best way to model or fix this?

P.S: I don't want to use Travel to a Location activity since there are a bunch of floor spots in the room and i want the operator to choose one spot that is availabe, walks toward it and position themselves correctly.

I can't replicate the issues you are describing. Can you attach an example model?

The Walk activity is meant to be used in the healthcase environment and with people module objects. It needs a person reference, the resulting task will be a separate task sequence.

To have an operator move to a specific location, get the coordinates of that location and then use a "Travel to Location" activity. The rotation would need to be adjusted after the travel concludes. The "project()" in the label assignment below is only necessary if you can't be sure that both the destination object and the operator are inside the same object (i.e. direct subnodes of the model).

@FelixMoehlmann Thanks for the answer.

I couldn’t replicate the issue in a small model, but it does happen in my larger model—which I can share privately in another post. The approach you mentioned is exactly what I’m looking for, but the problem is that if you change the size of the floor spot, the operator no longer stands at the center, and they don’t rotate to face the processor.

In a small room with tightly packed equipment, it’s important that the operator faces the correct equipment—especially when working with limited bench space. Can you take a look at the model attached and let me how i can fix it?

As you are using the A* navigator, the operator is constrained to the grid cells (so not every continuous location can be reached). With a Travel To Location activity it will move to the cell closest to the destination. Depending on the size of the layout you could set a smaller grid spacing, though that comes with the cost of longer computation times to plot a route.

A simple option would be to just set the operator's location and rotation to the exact values you want after the travel finishes.

Got it, that worked well. Thanks!
